State Issued Winter Weather Alert as 5 Inches of Snow To Hit
Winter weather alerts have been issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) for some parts of the Northwest through Tuesday, which warn of hazardous conditions involving up to 5 inches of snow.Â
As winter sets in, residents and travelers in some Northwest regions have been urged to slow down, take extra caution when drivingâespecially on the morning commuteâand expect âa few inconveniences to normal activities.â Â
The following areas in the Northwest are likely to be impacted by snow, and the NWS has urged drivers to âplan on slippery road conditions.âÂ
Residents and travelers in the Central Panhandle Mountains, including the Lookout Pass and Dobson Pass, could see up to 5 inches of snow above 3,500 ft until early Tuesday morning.
Unsettled weather this week, minor travel impacts at pass level
A few isolated showers will be possible this morning for areas north of I-90. Later today, another wave will move across the Northern Rockies.
Light snow accumulations are expected with 1 to 3 inches for Lookout Pass. Parts of northwest Montana, including the Yaak Region, Troy, Libby, and Eureka. could see 1 to 2 inches.
A weak ridge of high pressure builds in Tuesday night into Wednesday, giving us a brief break from the rain and snow. Our next weather maker arrives Wednesday night into Thursday, bringing widespread rain and snow. Snow levels will drop to around 5,000 feet by Friday and Saturday.
Temperatures this week will stay mild â running about five to ten degrees warmer than average for early November.

MISSOULAâ We are looking at an active weather week across the region, with mountain snow along with valley rain possible each day.
We'll see a few light rain/snow showers this morning, becoming more widespread with the passage of a low pressue system this afternoon. High temperatures today top out in the 40s.
Valleys across Northwest Montana will have the chance to see some light snow accumulations tonight into Tuesday morning as temperatures here remain right around freezing.
Not much snow, but around 1" could fall in a few locations.
We'll get a brief break from the rain on Wednesday with another round of mountain snow and valley rain returning Thursday and Friday with highs in the 40s to low 50s.
