Barger wants no part of Big Papi's gift. You can probably understand why
Addison Barger delivered the biggest hit in the Blue Jays' 11-4 rout of the Dodgers in Game 1 of the World Series at Rogers Centre on Friday night — a pinch-hit grand slam, the first in Fall Classic history. Afterward, he was awarded with perhaps the highest honor one can receive from one of baseball's most legendary postseason players.
Former Red Sox slugger David Ortiz has a tradition of gifting a special T-shirt to players who perform well in October — it features a picture of Ortiz during his playing days and the words "My Dawg" beneath it.
Barger was the latest recipient, but there was a little problem.
David Ortiz Says He Cursed Blue Jays Star After Declining His Gift
On the Fox broadcast for the World Series, Hall of Famer David Ortiz revealed that he cursed Toronto Blue Jays sluggre Addison Barger.
Ortiz is one of the leading figures on Fox's pregame and postgame shows throughout the season, and since Fox carries the World Series, he has been prominently featured in the coverage.

After Game 2 of the World Series, David Ortiz handed his "MY DAWG" shirt, an award for the player with a standout performance, to Los Angeles Dodgers catcher Will Smith.
Smith totaled two hits across four at-bats, hitting a home run and driving in three runs to help the Dodgers win, 5-1.

Barger turns down Big Papi's 'My Dawg' shirt: 'It's awesome, but no'
Addison Barger isn't going to accept a free shirt from just anyone.
Especially not one with direct ties to an AL East rival.
The Toronto Blue Jays slugger became the first player in MLB history to hit a pinch-hit grand slam in Game 1 of the World Series on Friday, and was rewarded with one of the most prestigious postseason mementoes ever handed out: a David Ortiz "My Dawg" T-shirt.
Despite the gesture from the Hall of Famer and Boston Red Sox legend, Barger just couldn't accept it.
"No, I left it. It has Red Sox on it, I'm not wearing that. Are you kidding me?" Barger joked postgame. "I'm not wearing a (team's shirt) that's in our division. No way. It's awesome, but no."
