Commanders to sign former Pro Bowl LT D.J. Humphries after Laremy Tunsil injury
Depth is on the way to the Washington Commanders' offensive line. The Commanders are set to sign former Pro Bowl left tackle D.J. Humphries to a one-year contract, according to ESPN, which bolsters a unit that recently lost its greatest asset, Laremy Tunsil, to a torn triceps. Tunsil is expected to miss most of the 2026 season.
Humphries is available to the Commanders as a free agent. It has been half a decade since Humphries was considered one of the best tackles in football, and in the four years since his Pro Bowl selection, he played more than eight games just once.
Commanders announce D.J. Humphries signing
Veteran tackle D.J. Humphries is officially a member of the Commanders.
Reports on Tuesday indicated that Humphries would be signing with the team after working out for them earlier in the day and the Commanders announced the move on Wednesday morning.
Humphries will join the group of players in the mix to replace Laremy Tunsil at left tackle in Washington. Tunsil tore his triceps and will miss much if not all of the regular season.
Humphries has made 101 career starts, including all 98 games he played during eight seasons with the Cardinals. Brandon Coleman has been filling in for Tunsil and we’ll find out if that remains the case now that Humphries is in Washington.
