Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear says he's "heard absolutely nothing back from Mitch McConnell"
Washington — Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear said Sunday that he hasn't heard back from Sen. Mitch McConnell following formal requests for updates on his health last month amid a weekslong hospitalization that prompted widespread speculation and concern.
"I've heard absolutely nothing back from Mitch McConnell," Beshear said on "Face the Nation with Margaret Brennan."
McConnell, 84, was hospitalized on June 14. But he and his staff shared little about his condition for weeks, prompting Beshear to write a letter on July 8 to the longtime Kentucky senator seeking an update on his health. Days later, McConnell put out his first statement since the hospitalization, which he said resulted from a fall, while noting that he had moved to a rehabilitation center.

Mitch McConnell has not been seen in more than two months, and while some Republicans have claimed to have spoken to the 84-year-old senator, the people of Kentucky have been left in the dark.
Democrat Charles Booker, who is running to fill McConnellâs Senate seat, is not buying Republican claims that theyâve spoken to the senator since he was rushed to the hospital on June 14.
Senate Majority Leader John Thune, Whip John Barrasso, and conservative commentator Scott Jennings have all insisted theyâve had calls with McConnell, during which theyâve talked policy.
âIn an age where every time we turn on the news, thereâs lies, weâre in an age of politics where dishonesty is the norm, and the lack of transparency is to be expected,â Booker told the Daily Beast on Friday. âItâs why a lot of people donât trust politics, so no, I do not believe them.â
