Tornado watch issued for Lyon County
LYON COUNTY, Nev. (KOLO) – The National Weather Service in Reno has issued a tornado watch for a portion of Lyon County.
They say the warning will be valid until roughly 2:15 p.m. Thursday.
The warning area encompasses areas of Lyon County between Fernley, Patrick and Silver Springs.

The National Weather Service in Reno said radar indicated a tornado touched down in Storey County, possibly near USA Parkway, on Thursday afternoon.
A weather service alert urged residents to "take cover now," advising them to move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building and stay away from windows.
National Weather Service meteorologist Brian Brong said the rare event likely did not cause significant damage because it touched down in a rural area and was a weak tornado.
He said the NWS believes that it hit near Patrick, Nevada, a small community along Interstate 80 east of Sparks and Reno. He said the funnel cloud, what all tornados are until they touch down, likely lasted 5 to 10 minutes.
