CARROLL COUNTY, Ga. — Jurors have reached a verdict after attorneys made their final arguments Tuesday in the retrial of a former Georgia State Patrol trooper charged in a 2015 crash that claimed the lives of two teenagers.
Anthony Scott, now the mayor of Buchanan, Georgia, was on trial facing vehicular homicide and other charges in the crash, which killed 17-year-old Kylie Lindsey and 16-year-old Isabella Chincilla on Sept. 26, 2015.
The jury delivered the verdict on Wednesday afternoon after roughly two days of deliberations, which convicted Scott on five of the six counts against him:

Former state trooper, Buchanan mayor convicted in retrial
The jury for the trial of former Georgia State Patrol trooper and current mayor of Buchanan is still deliberating. FOX 5 Atlanta spoked to one mother who said she was hopeful.
5 p.m. update: The jury convicted A.J. Scott on five of six counts in the retrial of a deadly crash from 2015. Scott was convicted of homicide by vehicle in the second degree, two counts of serious injury by vehicle, and speeding. He was found not guilty on a separate count of homicide by vehicle in the second degree.
NOON UPDATE: A Carroll County jury resumed deliberations Wednesday morning in the trial of Buchanan Mayor A.J. Scott, a former Georgia State Patrol trooper accused of causing a 2015 wreck that killed two teenagers and seriously injured two others.
