Texas Tech softball falls to Tennessee in WCWS, now faces elimination
OKLAHOMA CITY — The Texas Tech softball team faces elimination after suffering a 2-1 loss in nine innings to Tennessee in the winners' bracket of the 2026 Women's College World Series today at Devon Park.
The Red Raiders trailed 1-0 in the top of the seventh inning before Taylor Pannell scored the game-tying run on a sacrifice fly to help send the game to extras. The game was a pitchers duel throughout with four of the best in the nation going to battle.
In the end it was Emma Clarke's walk-off home run in the bottom of the ninth that sent the Lady Vols to the WCWS semifinals. Texas Tech will now play UCLA in an elimination game on Sunday night.

The loss sends the Red Raiders into an elimination game Sunday against No. 8 UCLA.
