US Men’s National Team (USMNT) star Tim Weah returned to the Queens soccer club that helped shape his development Saturday afternoon, enjoying a homecoming in Rosedale to honor his rise from southeast Queens to the 2026 World Cup.
Weah, on loan at Marseille from Italian club Juventus, was born in Brooklyn and spent part of his youth playing with the Rosedale Rockets Soccer Club before eventually joining the Red Bull New York academy.
He returned to the club on Saturday, meeting with current players, alumni, community leaders and elected officials at the Rosedale Rockets Soccer Club Field on 149th Avenue.

“This is the club that, when the fields weren’t grass, when they were dust, we were all out there kicking it around and it’s just humble beginnings. Growing up, unless I went to, I don’t know, New Haven or Manhattan or out there in Long Island, I was just around Caribbean families from Jamaicans to Trinidadians to Guyanese, Puerto Ricans, Dominicans, everyone. It’s just a really humble place to be and to grow up, I think, as a kid. We grew up around a lot of love, a lot of good energy.
