Leaked Strixhaven MTG card lets you cast a busted spell from Alpha
Secrets of Strixhaven includes a creature that can access Ancestral Recall, one of the most broken cards in all of Magic: The Gathering history.
Spoiler season for MTG Secrets of Strixhaven is just around the corner, but already we're drowning in leaks. For the most part, I'm trying to avert my gaze, but we couldn't very well stay away from this one: a creature that lets you play a piece of the Power Nine in Standard.
Emeritus of Ideation is a Mythic blue creature with ward 2 and flying, but if your eyes have skimmed the image already, you're probably much more interested in what's on the right hand side of the card. Yep, that's the name and rules text for Ancestral Recall alright, one of the most powerful cards in all of Magic, a spell created before Wizards had really figured out the whole game balance thing, when one mana to draw three cards seemed a perfectly reasonable rate.
MTG Prepared Rules: Unlock Ancestral Recall & Other Spells!
Prepared is a new MTG keyword introduced with the Secrets of Strixhaven set. Many players are wondering how it works, as the mechanic wasn’t officially previewed. However, based on the leaked cards and our experience with similar effects, we can make a pretty accurate assesment of how it’ll play out.
A creature with prepare spell has its text box split in two halves. (Similar to adventures, even though they work differently.)
You can cast it from your hand for its regular mana cost. It has the abilities from the left side of its text box and enters unprepared.

Secrets of Strixhaven Skirts Reserved List with Provocative Ancestral Recall "Reprint"

Excuse me, what? A Reserved List Power Nine card in a Standard set release? Well… sort of. An overnight leak has shown off a card containing the name “Ancestral Recall”, except there's a twist (isn't there always?), and we're not exactly sure how it works yet. Maybe just looking at the card is the best place to start.
This image started circulating after a Whatnot streamer claimed to open the card out of a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles booster pack on stream. And yeah, that definitely says Ancestral Recall in the text box, mana cost and all. Except… that's clearly not just a straight Ancestral reprint (and why would it be?).
