Canvassing the opinions of numerous filmmakers, actors, and various other creative types in the industry, they included an entire section devoted to the ten films that each of these individuals would proclaim to be the best of the century. One of these people chosen was comedy legend Mel Brooks, who included Inglourious Basterds, the self-alleged masterpiece of Quentin Tarantino. Brooks' vaudeville/variety show-inspired slapstick meta-comedy might seem to have little in common with Tarantino's hipster pastiche playgrounds, but they actually have a similar approach to attacking Nazi fascism through cinema, albeit through completely different genres and levels of sincerity.
