Ronda Rousey to fight Gina Carano in return to MMA
Former UFC bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey will return to mixed martial arts for the first time in nearly a decade when she faces fellow combat sports trailblazer Gina Carano on May 16 at the Intuit Dome in Inglewood, California, Most Valuable Promotions confirmed Tuesday to ESPN.
The blockbuster showdown between MMA legends will headline the first professional MMA event promoted by Jake Paul's Most Valuable Promotions and will be streamed live on Netflix.
Rousey and Carano will face each other at 145 pounds, and the fight will be professionally sanctioned under the Unified Rules of MMA and contested over five, 5-minute rounds using 4-ounce gloves, inside a hexagon cage.

Ronda Rousey, the most popular fighter in women’s mixed martial arts history, will be returning to the sport May 16 for the first time in nine years, Most Valuable Promotions (MVP) and Netflix announced Tuesday. Rousey, 39, will face Gina Carano at the Intuit Dome.
Rousey (12-2) was the first female fighter to sign with the UFC in 2012 and became the promotion’s first women’s star when she was named the bantamweight champion, a title she initially won in Strikeforce. She defended the belt seven times and grew into one of the UFC’s most popular draws, headlining six pay-per-views.

Ronda Rousey will make her long-awaited return after a decade away from mixed-martial arts when she takes on Gina Carano in a featherweight bout.
The bout is scheduled for May 16 at the Intuit Dome in Inglewood, California, and will be broadcast exclusively by Netflix, the streaming site's first-ever live MMA broadcast. It will be contested at the featherweight limit of 145 pounds, with five, 5-minute rounds using 4-ounce gloves.
Rousey, 39, (12-2, 9 Submissions, 3 KOs) was at one time the face of the Ultimate Fighting Championship, but retired in 2016 following two straight losses and subsequently made a foray in professional wrestling with World Wrestling Entertainment.
