Iowa women's basketball player Taylor McCabe injured in Sunday's game
Iowa women's basketball player Taylor McCabe was injured during Sunday's game against Ohio State at Carver-Hawkeye Arena.
McCabe, a senior guard, appeared to twist her knee or ankle on the Hawkeyes' first defensive possession. She was carried off the court to the locker room.
The scene was reminiscent of Ohio State's last trip to Iowa City, when Hawkeye guard Molly Davis was carried off the court with a leg injury.
McCabe returned to the Iowa bench at the start of the second quarter, wearing street clothes. She hugged teammates and had an ice pack on her knee.
McCabe is Iowa's top 3-point shooting threat. Taylor Stremlow is seeing extra playing time today after McCabe's injury.
Iowa women's basketball guard Taylor McCabe exits with injury
On the first defensive possession of No. 10 Iowa women's basketball's showdown against No. 11 Ohio State, Hawkeye senior guard Taylor McCabe appeared to suffer a non-contact injury as she was defending Buckeyes guard Ava Watson.
McCabe needed help exiting the court and was later seen in street clothes with her left knee wrapped up. The Fremont, Neb., native was shown on the Peacock stream being hugged by her teammates.
Play-by-play broadcaster Sloane Martin reported it as a left knee injury. McCabe won't return on Sunday and there's fears on the severity of the injury.
