Yankees Claim Marco Luciano
The Yankees have claimed outfielder Marco Luciano off waivers from the Orioles, according to announcements from both clubs. Baltimore designated him for assignment a week ago. The Yankees technically have a 40-man spot open for this claim but their agreement to re-sign Cody Bellinger is not yet official. This moves fills up the 40-man, so a corresponding move will now be required for Bellinger.

Braves lose pitcher José Suarez on waivers
The Atlanta Braves lost left-handed pitcher José Suarez on waivers to the Baltimore Orioles. Suarez, 28, was a depth option for the Braves as a long-reliever and spot-starter.
Atlanta traded for Suarez at the end of last year’s Spring Training in what was essentially a swap of two out-of-option pitchers, with Suarez coming to the Braves and Ian Anderson going to the Los Angeles Angels. Anderson ended up returning to the Braves organization but didn’t appear at the big league level with Atlanta.
Suarez pitched in seven games for Atlanta last season and made one start with a below average strikeout rate and an above average walk rate. Atlanta designated him for assignment last April but he went unclaimed. He pitched in the minors until Atlanta recalled him in early September.

Former SF Giants top prospect has been DFA'd for the third time this offseason
Everyone knew coming into this offseason that Marco Luciano's time with the SF Giants was likely over, but the former top prospect has now been designated for assignment by three teams this offseason.
The Giants were the first team to DFA him and the Pittsburgh Pirates scooped him up which seemed fitting since they also picked up Joey Bart after he flamed out in San Francisco. That proved to be short-lived though as the Pirates DFA'd him as well.
Then the Baltimore Orioles decided to claim him. Only natural that they should be the ones to get Luciano turned around after the Giants nabbed Mike Yastrzemski from them all those years ago and he became one of the most reliable right fielders in baseball. And yet, the Orioles have now moved on from Luciano as well.
