The New England Patriots signed K’Lavon Chaisson to a one-year, $3 million deal last offseason, and they could be looking to keep him around.

Chaisson has been a great addition for the Patriots, and his play this season has set him up nicely for free agency. However, the Patriots could value him enough to make sure he does not hit the open market. Sports Illustrated’s Ethan Hurwitz predicted the Patriots would sign Chaisson to an extension.

Former first-round pick continues to look like a free-agent steal for Patriots

FOXBOROUGH – In the first couple of days of NFL free agency, the Patriots made a flurry of moves. The team was quick to sign veterans such as Milton Williams, Carlton Davis, Morgan Moses, and Robert Spillane.

During that week, the team had extended dialogue with K’Lavon Chaisson. After an elongated negotiation period, the veteran edge rusher opted to sign a 1-year contract to come to New England.

Little did anyone know at the time, but that ended up being one of the best deals of the offseason for Mike Vrabel’s team. This season, Chaisson put up career-best numbers for the defense. On Sunday night, the veteran was dominant in the Patriots’ wild-card win over the Los Angeles Chargers.

Maxx Crosby tweets out Patriots player and social media goes crazy

Las Vegas Raiders' five-time Pro Bowl edge rusher Maxx Crosby had NFL fans losing their minds by merely mentioning New England Patriots' defender K'Lavon Chaisson in a tweet.

Chaisson, Crosby's former teammate in Las Vegas, had two tackles and two sacks in the Patriots' 16-3 win over the Los Angeles Chargers in Sunday's wild-card playoff game.

Chaisson was once perceived as a first-round draft bust, but he has completely turned his career around with the Patriots by emerging as one of the team's best pass-rushers. Crosby sent out the post in support of his former teammate, but it quickly turned into fans pitching for the star defensive player to come to New England.
