New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day are among the biggest holidays of the year — and a total magnet for grocery shopping.
If you're anticipating a last-minute grocery store run on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day — forgot the Champagne? Need orange juice for mimosas? Need more hors d’oeuvres? — you’re in luck. All Publix locations will be open both holidays, but with some limitation. The Lakeland-based grocery store chain employs more than 255,000 people with more than 1,430 stores in Florida, Alabama, Georgia, Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. Florida is home to more than 889 stores as of December 2025.
