2:28pm: Justice delos Santos of the San Jose Mercury News reports that the Giants are expecting Foley to be ready to go sometime midseason. It doesn’t sound like he’ll be an option for Opening Day.
2:12pm: The Giants announced Tuesday that they’ve signed right-handed reliever Jason Foley to a one-year, major league contract. The Wasserman client missed most of the 2025 season due to shoulder surgery and was non-tendered by the Tigers last month. ESPN’s Jesse Rogers reports that Foley is guaranteed $2MM on the deal. The Giants haven’t announced a corresponding 40-man move but will need to do so soon, as they were already at capacity prior to signing Foley.

San Francisco signed veteran right-handed relief pitcher Jason Foley to a one-year MLB contract, the team announced Tuesday afternoon.
Foley, 30, last pitched for the Detroit Tigers in 2024 before undergoing right shoulder surgery in May of this year to repair his anterior capsule that sidelined him for the 2025 season.

In 69 appearances in 2024, Foley posted a 3.15 ERA with 46 strikeouts, 20 walks and 28 saves in 60 innings pitched for Detroit.
Foley made his MLB debut with Detroit in 2021, and from 2022-2024, his 189 1/3 innings pitched ranked fifth among American League relievers during that span.

Giants agree to one-year contract with RHP Jason Foley
SAN FRANCISCO – The Giants and right-handed pitcher Jason Foley agreed to terms on a one-year Major League contract.
Foley, 30, missed the majority of 2025 while recovering from right shoulder surgery, performed by Dr. Keith Meister in May to repair his anterior capsule. The expectation is that Foley will be back pitching mid-season next year.
The Manhasset, NY native has pitched four seasons in the Majors (2021-2024), all with Detroit, going 7-9 with a 3.16 ERA (70er, 199.2ip), 35 saves, 150 strikeouts, and a 1.24 WHIP over 210 games.
In 2024, his 28 saves ranked fifth in the AL, and his 69 games pitched were tied for 12th in the league. After the 2024 All-Star break, Foley pitched to a 2.70 ERA (8er, 26.2ip) while holding hitters to a .179 average to help Detroit claim a postseason berth. In 2023, the Sacred Heart University (CT) product tied for 10th in the American League in games pitched (70), and his 1.6 Fangraphs WAR ranked sixth amongst all AL relievers.
