Billionaires’ Bunker Canceled At Netflix; Won’t Return for Season 2
It’s one and done for the big-budget disaster series from the creators of Money Heist.
Despite hailing from the creators of the global phenomenon Money Heist (La casa de papel) and being one of the most expensive and ambitious projects from Netflix Spain, the streamer has decided not to move forward with a second season of of Billionaires’ Bunker (El refugio atómico in Spanish).
The cancellation confirmation comes from Spanish news outlet El País, which reported yesterday, alongside the Berlin season 2 news, that the series had been quietly canceled behind the scenes.
Debuting on Netflix on September 19th, 2025, the series centered on a group of billionaires retreating to a luxury, retro-futuristic bunker to wait out World War III. Pau Simón, Alícia Falcó, Miren Ibarguren, Agustina Bisio, and Joaquín Furriel were amongst the cast, with the series filmed in part at Netflix’s sprawling Tres Cantos campus just outside Madrid.

Netflix has decided to cancel one of its most recent series, The Atomic Shelter, after the discouraging audience performance and the negative reviews it received since its premiere on September 19. With only 33% positive ratings on Rotten Tomatoes, the series has been doomed, leaving fans without a conclusion, as the production did not meet the expectations of the audience or its creators, Álex Pina and Esther Martínez Lobato.
The cancellation has been confirmed by El País, which reports that Vancouver Media, the production company behind the series, has already begun dismantling the sets built for the production. These sets had been active until the release of the first part of the series, which ended on a cliffhanger that will no longer be resolved. This situation has generated discontent among fans who were hoping for a continued storyline.
