Sources: Ducks land ex-Gophers star safety Perich

Former Minnesota safety Koi Perich has committed to Oregon, sources told ESPN on Monday, confirming a report by CBS Sports.

A two-way player who also plays receiver and returns kicks, Perich will have two years of eligibility remaining.

Perich was a freshman All-American in 2024 after grabbing five interceptions, and was named to multiple All-Big Ten teams in his recently completed sophomore season.

He was ranked as ESPN's No. 8 player in the college football transfer portal.

Also on Monday, Oregon tight end Roger Saleapaga told ESPN's Pete Thamel he is planning to transfer.

Saleapaga played 26 games over two seasons at Oregon, catching three passes for 26 yards and a touchdown, the TD coming in the College Football Playoff semifinal against Indiana.

Safety Koi Perich commits to Oregon after starring at Minnesota

The Oregon Ducks have had a busy day on Monday in terms of adding players via the transfer portal. In the morning, they secured the commitments of Nebraska quarterback Dylan Raiola, UAB wide receiver Iverson Hooks, Yale offensive tackle Michael Bennett and Baylor safety Carl Williams IV.

In the evening, they picked up another big-time commitment, this time from former Minnesota star safety Koi Perich as reported by CBS Sports' Matt Zentz.

The 6-foot-1, 200-pounder is rated as a four-star and is the top-ranked safety in the 2026 transfer portal class. Perich contributed to both defense, offense and special teams during his two seasons with the Golden Gophers, proving to be one of the most talented and electric players in the Big Ten.

Oregon Lands Massive Commitment From Top Transfer Portal Safety

After losing to the Indiana Hoosiers in the College Football Playoff Semifinals at the Peach Bowl, the Oregon Ducks have quickly started the process of building the roster for next season.

While multiple new pieces have already been put in place, Oregon's latest addition is arguably its best yet.

Per reports from On3's Hayes Fawcett, Oregon has secured a commitment from Minnesota safety Koi Perich, who was the top available player at his position in the portal.

Perich recently visited Oregon, which won the recruiting battle over Texas Tech. After beating them in the College Football Playoff Quarterfinal at the Orange Bowl, the Ducks got the best of the Red Raiders once again.
