Megyn Kelly rips clip of Tony Dokoupil crying on 'CBS Evening News'
Tony Dokoupil's first week at "CBS Evening News" is getting criticism from former Fox News host and NBC anchor Megyn Kelly.
Dokoupil, who officially debuted as the evening news program's lead anchor on Jan. 5, has caught flak for on-air flubs on the broadcast, but a recent clip of the journalist crying during a segment is drawing particular ire.
The former Fox News star took to her podcast to criticize the clip.
"We have to talk about the new anchor of 'CBS Evening News,'" Kelly told her guest, ousted ABC News journalist Mark Halperin, during the Wednesday, Jan. 7, episode. "There's no crying in 'Evening News.'"
Tony Dokoupil Is Making ‘CBS Evening News’ All About Tony Dokoupil
On Thursday night’s “CBS Evening News” broadcast, its anchor, in his fifth night on the job, strained for a unifying moment of grace.
Reporting from Minneapolis in the aftermath of an ICE agent shooting and killing 37-year-old mother Renée Good, Tony Dokoupil spoke for a bit over 90 seconds, in a garbled word salad that credited, and blamed, both sides of a political issue, if it said anything at all. Dokoupil acknowledged both opposition to ICE and “people who want to see our immigration laws enforced, legally and peacefully and with safety for all.” Calling both pro- and anti-ICE beliefs “deeply American sentiments,” Dokoupil asked viewers to “find a way to live with people who are genuinely different from us” and to “make things better and keep things decent.”

“Our job now is … to find a way to live with people who are genuinely different from us,” the anchor says in Thursday’s “CBS Evening News” sign-off
Tony Dokoupil‘s rocky launch as “CBS Evening News” anchor faced another hit after he was slammed for presenting a “both sides” take on the Minneapolis ICE shooting.
Dokoupil broadcasted the CBS News program from the Minnesota city Thursday evening in the wake of an ICE agent fatally shooting a 37-year-old woman, named Renee Nicole Good, the day before. As the newsman signed off his broadcast, he shared his final thoughts on the incident, noting that Americans aren’t listening to one another following the tragedy.
