With increased power and a clear goal in mind, Kostyuk has Top 10 aspirations

Marta Kostyuk had an intentional offseason, taking an extended break to recharge and focusing on precision strength to increase power. Now the World No. 26 is ready to blow past her career-high No. 16 ranking and into the Top 10.

She rested and recharged in the Maldives — her "happy place" — went on a pilgrimage to Medjugorje (a small town in Bosnia and Herzegovina), returned to the Ukraine and ended up in Dubai before heading Down Under for the start of the WTA Tour Driven by Mercedes-Benz season. (She also got a second dog, who proved to be more of a troublemaker than her first and required a substantial amount of training.)

“I want to finish the season in the top 10,” Kostyuk shows her ambitions before her first match of the year in Brisbane

Marta Kostyuk no longer wants to hide. The 23-year-old Ukrainian, ranked 26th in the world, has a big goal in mind for this year 2026. Having reached the round of 16 at the US Open and the quarterfinals of the WTA 1000 events in Doha, Madrid, and Montreal last season, Kostyuk wants to take another step in her young career.

Ranked as high as 16th in her career, she hopes to be among the top ten players in the world by the end of the season. She will start her year with a match against Yulia Putintseva, a lucky loser, in the second round of the WTA 500 in Brisbane in the night from Tuesday to Wednesday.
