Former Memphis QB A.J. Hill following Ryan Silverfield to Arkansas
Former Memphis football quarterback A.J. Hill will reunite with former Memphis coach Ryan Silverfield at Arkansas.
Hill committed to the Razorbacks on Jan. 5, he announced on social media. Silverfield left for Arkansas after the 2025 regular season and also brought several Memphis coaches — including offensive coordinator Tim Cramsey — to Fayetteville with him.
Hill, a freshman, has four years of eligibility remaining. He played in two games during his freshman season, with the second coming in the Gasparilla Bowl after the game was already out of hand.
Hill was one of Memphis' highest-ranked recruits ever and drew national headlines when he committed to the Tigers in the summer of 2024. The Warner Robins, Georgia, native was behind Brendon Lewis on the depth chart in 2025 and split time with Arrington Maiden behind Lewis. Maiden is also in the transfer portal, while Lewis is out of eligibility.
Memphis quarterback transfer AJ Hill commits to Arkansas football
FAYETTEVILLE — Arkansas football has added Antwann “AJ” Hill to the quarterback room after receiving his committment Monday.
Hill, 6-4 and 215 pounds, completed 19 of 32 passes for 223 yards with 1 touchdown and 1 interception in two games this past season for Memphis and then-Tigers coach Ryan Silverfield.
The chance to reunite with Silverfield and his staff, including former Memphis offensive coordinator Tim Cramsey, at Arkansas was too much to pass up.
"Just the coaching staff, knowing the playbook already, and just the city,” Hill said. “The fan base, SEC platform, really just being able to be known every week.”
On3 rates him the No. 26 quarterback in the NCAA transfer portal. He has four years of eligibility remaining.

Hill will be a redshirt freshman in 2026 and has four years of eligibility remaining. He completed 19 of 32 passes for 223 yards with one touchdown and one interception in limited action this fall with the Tigers.
