San Diego homicide detectives were called to investigate the circumstances of an unusual scene on Monday morning, where a woman was found dead after a vehicle crashed into a Bay Park home and a fire started inside.

Neighbors first called police at about 7:40 a.m. to report that a white Toyota Tacoma had crashed through the front wall of a house in the 4300 block of Dakota Drive and that a fire had sparked.

SAN DIEGO — A woman was found dead inside a home on the 4300 block of Dakota Drive after a truck crashed into the residence on Monday morning, according to investigators. 

San Diego police received several 911 calls from neighbors around 7:30 a.m. reporting the incident at 4312 Dakota Drive.

"We heard engines rev up and then we heard the loud boom," said neighbor Bang Duong. 

He said he ran outside and recognized that the truck belonged to his neighbor.

Officers discovered a husband and wife inside the home when they arrived. In addition to the crash, authorities said a small fire had started inside the home, which crews extinguished.
