Halfway through the season, the Premier League table is tightly packed through the middle. At the bottom, however, little has changed. The same three sides have occupied the relegation places since Matchweek 13, and the teams that entered December under pressure have remained there.
With 55 league games before the end of January, the table can turn quickly. With so many games in quick succession, teams near the bottom have a chance to gain momentum; a few strong performances can lift them clear before the season reaches its business end.
Premier League relegation picture after Matchweek 18
The Premier League relegation picture is unchanged after Matchweek 18, with Wolves, Burnley and West Ham still in the bottom three. Nuno Espirito Santo is under pressure after West Ham’s 1-0 loss to Fulham. According to NY Times, the same trio have been there since Matchweek 13.
Wolves lost 2-1 at Anfield, an 11th straight defeat that leaves them on two points, 16 from safety. Ryan Gravenberch finished a Jeremie Frimpong cut-back, then Florian Wirtz added another from a Hugo Ekitike pass. Wolves improved after the break with 165 passes and nine shots.
Burnley drew 0-0 with Everton despite 16 shots and none on target, extending their winless run to nine and leaving them six points from safety. They have conceded 34.7 expected goals, the division’s worst.

Mikel Arteta saw his side defeat Brighton & Hove Albion 2-1 and following the victory, our boss faced the press at Emirates Stadium.
Mikel gave an injury update as well as commenting on our win, thanks to a Martin Odegaard strike and an own goal from Georginio Rutter.
Read every word Mikel said following our clash against the Seagulls below.
Very happy with the performance, individually and collectively, so dominant. We were a big threat, so very pleased with all of that. But the margins should have been much bigger. I mean, with the amount of situations, chances, open chances that we generated through the game, it should never be 2-1. But that's the Premier League, that's the step that we have to make. I think the first shot that they had, they scored the goal and then David has to make another save to maintain the result. But what I like is that we're having a lot of issues, we're dealing with it in an incredible way. Yesterday we lost Jurrien, today we lose Calafiori in the warm-up, Declan has to play as a full-back and you see the performance that he put in. So, that's the spirit and that's how much our players want it.
