NFL Week 17 buzz: What we're hearing on Joe Burrow, the red-hot Jaguars and Pro Bowl rosters

Playoff races are heating up with two weeks left, teams are starting to think about the future, and fantasy league championships are upon us. So with all that in mind, insiders Jeremy Fowler and Dan Graziano have been calling sources around the NFL for the latest news and buzz on key situations heading into Week 17.

This week, we asked around on Joe Burrow and his Bengals outlook. Could the star quarterback want out of Cincinnati? Should we read into his recent comments? And which other QBs could theoretically be looking at changes this offseason?

Jeremy and Dan also poked around on the Jaguars, who are in the middle of a six-game win streak and are in the AFC 1-seed mix. They also gathered reaction to Pro Bowl rosters, which were announced Tuesday morning. It's all here, as our national reporters answer big questions and empty their notebooks heading into Week 17.

Best NFL Week 17 bets and predictions: Why Eagles and Titans are live underdogs

We got an early Christmas gift last week, as I enjoyed one of my most successful betting weeks of the season. For the Week 16 slate, I correctly picked 12 of the 16 games on the moneyline and was 10-5-1 ATS overall. That included a 4-1 ATS mark within my five locks of the week, with my lone loss coming via the Denver Broncos falling to the Jacksonville Jaguars. That'll certainly have us rocking around the Christmas tree and having a few extra celebratory eggnogs.

As I now try to keep this momentum rolling through the holiday slate, injuries are going to make Week 17 a little tricky, as a number of injured quarterbacks are dampening the overall crop of games. In part because of those injuries, I found myself leaning on favorites for the majority of this slate, as I'm taking just five underdogs to cover and only three of them to pull off outright upsets.

Why Brooke picked the Cowboys: Yet another quarterback change for the Commanders, as journeyman Josh Johnson will make his first start since 2021 with Marcus Mariota (hand/quad) ruled out. This is just the latest injury challenge for Washington in a season full of them. In fact, the Commanders' Week 1 starters have collectively missed 80 games in 2025 (most in the league, per NFL Research), and the offense hasn't reached 30 points since Week 3. The silver lining (maybe?) is that the Dallas defense has been horrible in December, giving up 37.3 points per game in the last three outings (all losses). Even so, it'll be tough for Johnson and Co. to keep up with a Cowboys offense that ranks second overall and fifth in scoring. Dak Prescott has thrown for more than 4,000 yards, Javonte Williams has already rushed for a career-high 1,147 yards and CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens each have 1,000-plus receiving yards. I don't mean to be the Grinch here, but it's been that kind of season for Washington. The laundry list of injuries leaves Dan Quinn needing a little Christmas miracle.
