See who made the ASWA All-State football team for 2025
Forty-eight players from teams that won an AHSAA state championship were honored by the Alabama Sports Writers Association on the 2025 all-state team.
The ASWA’s prep committee selected a first team, second team and up to two honorable mention players at each position from nominations submitted by statewide high school football coaches.
Among the first-teamers from state title teams include Clay-Chalkville’s Corey Barber, Thompson’s Trent Seaborn, Maplesville’s Nehemiah McCary and Mars Hill Bible’s Jaxon Penn.
Three finalists in each AHSAA classification and the AISA will be announced on Saturday, Dec. 27. The winners and Mr. Football will be announced at the annual Player of the Year Banquet in Montgomery on Tuesday, Jan. 20.
Local players earn All-State honors
The Alabama Sports Writers Association (ASWA) released its annual All-State team in each classification on Saturday and five local athletes earned All-State.
All of the local athletes earned All-State honors in Class 2A with Ariton landing three players, Pike Lib landing one and Goshen landing one player on All-State.
Ariton was highlighted by senior defensive lineman Gabe Jones and junior athlete Addison Senn both earning First-Team All-State with Senn taking the honors as a punter. Senn averaged 48.8 yards per punt and had six punts downed inside the 20-yard line. He was also a starting quarterback and defensive back for the Purple Cats. He threw for 1,423 yards and 14 touchdowns with 481 yards and seven touchdowns rushing along with 55 tackles on defense.
