Disney Cruise Passenger, 73, Dies After Plunging From Ship
A 73-year-old man was confirmed dead this weekend after falling overboard on a Disney Cruise Line from Australia to New Zealand.
The victim vanished from the Disney Wonder at around 4.30 a.m. on Saturday, prompting an extensive search and rescue operation.
The rescue teamâs efforts, which included the use of thermal imaging and surveillance cameras, lasted for more than five hours but were unsuccessful in locating the missing man, whose identity has not been released.
In response to the emergency, the Disney Wonder, which had departed Melbourne on November 20 for a five-day journey to Auckland, turned around to scour the area, meaning the ship is now expected to arrive in New Zealand a day later than scheduled.

Hundreds of passengers have been caught up in a cruise tragedy after a Melbourne man was lost at sea on a Disney ship bound for Auckland.
Victoria Police said the 73-year-old man, from the north Melbourne suburb of Moonee Ponds, jumped overboard at 4.30am on Saturday as Disney Wonder sailed towards Auckland.
The ship turned around in the Tasman Sea in a bid to find the passenger but the man could not be located.
Passengers initially noticed the Disney Wonder had turned around about 12pm on Saturday.
It sailed back approximately five hours and circled the waters before the captain announced to the ship there was sadly no sign of him.

A Disney cruise ship headed to Auckland will be arriving a day late after an hours-long search for a passenger lost at sea.
The Melbourne man was lost overboard from from the Disney Wonder at 4.30am on Saturday, 7 News reports.
At around 12pm, the ship turned around to
search for the missing 73-year-old, circling the waters of the Tasman Sea for five hours.
Crew members were unable to locate his body after scanning the sea with thermal-imaging cameras.
A Victorian police spokeswoman told the Herald a report will be prepared for the coroner following the death of the Moonee Ponds resident.
