Cathay Pacific Collaborates With Hong Kong’s The Coffee Academïcs

The collaboration focused on developing a bespoke in-flight coffee blend tailored to the challenges of serving coffee at altitude.

The Coffee Academïcs, a specialty coffee brand based in Hong Kong, has become the first local coffee brand to collaborate with Cathay Pacific, bringing its signature blends to the airline’s passengers.

Founded in 2012, The Coffee Academïcs operates a 930-square-metre roastery and a network of 40 coffee shops across Hong Kong and Southeast Asia. The brand is known for its artisanal approach, including meticulously sourced beans and innovative roasting techniques.

The collaboration focused on developing a bespoke in-flight coffee blend tailored to the challenges of serving coffee at altitude, where passengers’ taste and smell are diminished, said a release. The Coffee Academïcs and Cathay Pacific conducted multiple tasting sessions, testing roast levels and brewing methods using onboard equipment.
