Jordan Davis named Player of the Week after monster performance in Eagles' win
Barrett Brooks breaks down the Eaglesâ interception on the Lionsâ first possession of Week 11.
For the first time in seven years, an Eagles defensive tackle has been named NFC Defensive Player of the Week.
Jordan Davis, who batted down three passes in the Eaglesâ 16-9 win over the Lions Sunday night, won his second Player of the Week award this year but his first on defense. He was named Special Teams Player of the Week after his blocked field goal and touchdown return as time expired to save the Eaglesâ win over the Rams.Â
Along with Jalen Carter, who batted down two passes, the Eagles got five pass deflections from their Georgia interior linemen. One of the three passes that Davis tipped was picked off by Cooper DeJean and returned to the Lionsâ 11-yard line to set up a field goal.
Defensive Tackles Makes Eagles History With Standout Game Vs. Lions
PHILADELPHIA â History unfolded with each swat Jordan Davis made on a pass attempt from Jared Goff in the Eaglesâ 16-9 win over the Detroit Lions on Sunday night. When Davis got to three swats, it was too hard for the NFL to ignore, and the league made the Eaglesâ defensive tackle its NFC Defensive Player of the Week.
Davis is now the first player in team history to win both a Defensive Player of the Week award and a Special Teams Player of the Week, which was bestowed upon him in Week 3 after he blocked a potential game-winning 44-yard field goal try and returned it 61 yards for a walk-off touchdown that iced a 33-26 win over the Los Angeles Rams.

Jordan Davis etches name into Philadelphia Eagles franchise history
Jordan Davis has etched his name in the Philadelphia Eagles' history books.
Davis was named the NFC Defensive Player of the Week on Wednesday after swatting three Jared Goff passes at the line of scrimmage in the Eagles' 16-9 win over the Detroit Lions on Sunday night. The defensive tackle's three pass deflections are tied for the most by a player in a game this season.
The 6-foot-6 DT's first pass deflection led to Cooper DeJean's first career regular-season interception. Davis was part of a dominant effort by the Birds' defense, which stifled a Lions offense that entered the game averaging 31.4 points and coming off a 44-point win over the Commanders.
