Game Preview: Islanders at Golden Knights
The Islanders are vying for their third straight win when they visit Las Vegas on Thursday (10PM EST, MSGSN)
NEW YORK ISLANDERS (8-6-2) AT VEGAS GOLDEN KNIGHTS (7-4-4)
The New York Islanders continue their seven-game road trip with a visit to Las Vegas to take on the Golden Knights.
Mathew Barzal scored the overtime winner in a 3-2 OT victory over the New Jersey Devils on Monday night to earn the Isles’ second straight win. Bo Horvat and Kyle Palmieri (PPG) scored in regulation, while Ilya Sorokin made 33 saves in the win. Head Coach Patrick Roy described it as a character win and a great team effort, especially with New Jersey’s Simon Nemec tying the game with five seconds left in the third period.
Islanders vs. Golden Knights prediction: Odds, picks, and best bet
The Islanders started their seven-game road trip with a pair of wins, but they can ill afford to rest on their laurels.
They now head into a three-in-four stretch against Vegas, Utah and Colorado, before heading to Dallas on Tuesday night.
That’s a brutal stretch of schedule that includes three of the four favorites to win the Western Conference in a span of six days.
The good news for the Isles is that they are playing some decent hockey, and goaltender Ilya Sorokin seems to have turned a corner after a sluggish start to the campaign.
The Islanders should also be confident that they’re catching the Golden Knights at a good time. After a flying start to the campaign, Vegas is just 2-4-2 in its last six contests and has allowed 13 goals in its last three outings.

Golden Knights Recall Braeden Bowman
The Vegas Golden Knights have recalled right-winger Braeden Bowman from the AHL’s Henderson Silver Knights. This is the first call-up of Bowman’s professional career. He earns it after a hot start to Henderson’s season. Bowman leads the club with seven goals, and is tied for the scoring lead with 12 points, through 12 games so far.
His first call-up to the NHL is a major milestone for the undrafted Bowman. He earned a minor-league contract with Henderson out of Vegas’ training camp in 2024, after four years with the OHL’s Guelph Storm. Bowman scored 14 goals and 36 points in 68 games of his rookie AHL season, enough to work his way onto the Silver Knights’ second-line. Vegas bumped Bowman’s minor-league deal up to a two-year, entry-level contract in March, making him eligible for an NHL call-up.
