Rangers look to 'create a feeling' at home after solid road trip
New York aims to bring blueprint for success to Madison Square Garden, where it is 0-4-1 this season
GREENBURGH, N.Y. — The New York Rangers can win on the road.
Their challenge is figuring out how to win at Madison Square Garden too.
"I think we provided a lot of evidence for ourselves [on our road trip] that if we play the game a certain way with the right intentions, we're going to give ourselves a chance to win," coach Mike Sullivan said Monday.
The Rangers traveled last week for a four-game trip and won the last three at the Vancouver Canucks (2-0), Edmonton Oilers (4-3 in overtime) and Seattle Kraken (3-2 in overtime) after a disappointing start (5-1 loss at the Calgary Flames).
How The Rangers Match Up Against The Hurricanes
The Carolina Hurricanes are a model NHL franchise – except when it comes to winning the Stanley Cup or – for that matter – "getting the cigar."
With coach Rod Brind'Amour's team visiting the Garden tonight, the Rangers will encounter a very good but eminently beatable outfit.
Every year, Raleigh's favorite hockey team looks like a Cup-winning candidate and annually they wind up looking for the silver lining that they never seem to find.
The Canes have failed for three years to win a conference title yet The Hockey News Yearbook picks Carolina to reach the Cup Final this year – and lose to Vegas.

Hurricanes at Rangers: Preview and game thread
The Carolina Hurricanes (7-4-0) are in the “Big Apple” to do battle with the New York Rangers (6-5-2) on Tuesday night at Madison Square Garden. Game time is 7 P.M.
These two teams seem to be on opposite paths as the Rangers have won three straight after a slow start where the Canes have lost three of their last four games.
Both teams are tied for third in the Metropolitan with 14 points. Both teams have the worst powerplay units in the league, (Rangers 31st and Canes 32nd).
Since Fred Andersen started the last game in Boston, it would seem that the backup goalie would start tonight and in this case it is likely to be Pyotr Kochetkov, who recently returned from a successful rehab stint in Chicago.
