Saints open to trading WR Rashid Shaheed, sources say
The New Orleans Saints have said they're not interested in trading away one of their wide receivers, but league sources believe Rashid Shaheed can be had for the right price.
Teams continue to call the Saints regarding the trade availability of Shaheed and fellow receiver Chris Olave, sources told ESPN.
The Saints are attempting to re-sign Olave to a contract extension, and sources believe New Orleans would like to receive a third-round draft pick in a trade involving Shaheed.
Saints wide receiver Brandin Cooks also is a candidate to be traded ahead of the NFL's Nov. 4 deadline, according to sources. If dealt, it would mark the fifth time in his 12-year career that Cooks has been traded.
Pittsburgh Steelers Have Preference for WR Trade
With the NFL trade deadline just over two weeks away, it appears the Pittsburgh Steelers have narrowed their focus in terms of what archetype of wide receiver they're targeting.
In a deadline update article for NFL.com, insider Ian Rapoport wrote that the Steelers are, in fact, looking to acquire receiver help and would prefer to bring in a "speed threat" who could play alongside DK Metcalf.
"The Steelers are, once again, in the market for a receiver, sources say," Rapoport wrote. "Their offense has thrived by featuring multiple tight ends, but the addition of a speed threat to pair with DK Metcalf would help Aaron Rodgers and the offense."
