Who will win Dodgers-Blue Jays World Series? MLB scouts, execs and managers make their predictions

The 2025 World Series is nearly upon us, with the Toronto Blue Jays set to host the Los Angeles Dodgers in Game 1 on Friday night.

Which team has the edge going into the Series? What should you expect from the Dodgers' pitching staff — and from Toronto's batters trying to hit L.A.'s aces? And which X factors will determine this October's last team standing?

ESPN MLB reporters Buster Olney and Jesse Rogers teamed up to ask 19 baseball execs, scouts, managers and coaches to break down what to expect in every aspect of this year's Fall Classic, starting with predicting the world champions.

Stars, Role Players, and Wild Cards: Tiers For Key World Series Players

The Blue Jays and Dodgers are both great teams, we know this — they’re in the World Series and all. We’ll find out which team is the better one when the two face off and a champion is crowned.

Shohei Ohtani, Dodgers, Designted Hitter/Right-Handed Pitcher: The fun thing about MLB's two-way dynamo is that you could put him among the stars in the World Series twice, as he’s a Cy Young-caliber starter now that he’s all stretched out, as he showed in Game 4 of the NLCS, and also an MVP-caliber bat, as he… also showed in Game 4 of the NLCS.

After an October that has been filled with dramatic moments in winner-takes-all contests, we have finally reached the final round of the MLB postseason. About the only folks this postseason who haven’t had their heart rates tested yet are the Los Angeles Dodgers, who have cruised to a 9-1 record thus far. The Toronto Blue Jays had a relatively easy time dispatching the New York Yankees, but they had to survive a thrilling seven-game American League Championship Series that came down to a fateful pitching decision in the bottom of the seventh inning in Game 7.
