'My new Disneyland': Trader Joe's opens in Riverdale, coming soon to Holladay, Herriman
RIVERDALE — Trader Joe's opened its doors in Riverdale on Friday. Another location will open in Holladay next week, and a Herriman official says the company will open in that city next year.
"It is a huge deal for us," said Brandon Cooper, community development director in Riverdale. The new Trader Joe's fills a vacant space, for one, "but more importantly, it just creates one more reason for people to come to Riverdale city."
The grand opening on Friday at 4060 S. Riverdale Road, where a Shopko once operated, drew a large crowd, with shoppers snaking around the building waiting to get in. Once the doors opened, they swarmed inside while a marching band played in front of the store. Riverdale leaders announced last December that Trader Joe's would be coming to Riverdale Road, a busy commercial corridor serving Weber and Davis counties.
Trader Joe’s expands to Riverdale with grand opening planned
RIVERDALE, Utah (KUTV) — A new Trader Joe’s location is scheduled to open on Friday in northern Utah.
Riverdale City announced the details of the upcoming grand opening in a social media post on Tuesday.
The store, located at 4060 S. Riverdale Road, has a planned ribbon-cutting ceremony on Oct. 24 at 8:55 a.m.
“This will be northern Utah’s very first Trader Joe’s, and we’re thrilled to have them join our community,” the city said in the social media post.
Doors were expected to open at 9 a.m. Friday, with store hours running daily from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., according to the city.

Riverdale welcomes new Trader Joe's with open arms
RIVERDALE, Utah — The first Trader Joe's grocery store north of Salt Lake County opened Friday in Riverdale, fulfilling years of requests from local residents.
The new location at 4060 S. Riverdale Road held its grand opening at 9 a.m., marking a significant milestone for the small city of approximately 9,500 people.
"They have a passionate following, and it's the thing that people have requested of me more than anything else," said Mayor Braden Mitchell, who has served for four years.
Despite Riverdale's small residential population, the city's daily population swells to around 60,000 due to local businesses. Mitchell said the new Trader Joe's will play a crucial role in revitalizing the Riverdale Road corridor.
