Man shot, killed by off-duty Atlanta police officer in Buckhead, GBI says
ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) – One person is dead after being shot by an off-duty Atlanta police officer overnight in Buckhead, according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI).
The shooting happened around 11:30 p.m. Saturday in the back parking lot of the Buckhead Butcher Shop, located at 3198 Cains Hill Place NW.
According to Atlanta police, an officer was working an off-duty job at the Five Paces Inn dive bar, located at 41 Irby Ave., when he was told about a customer who was being disruptive.
Police said the officer came across a man trying to get back into the bar. Police said they “had information to believe the patron had a weapon,” and the officer shot his firearm.
