Eagles LB Za’Darius Smith Sends Honest Message on How He Feels After 3 Games

The Philadelphia Eagles haven’t exactly been winning pretty, but they are still 4-0, making them one of only two undefeated teams alongside the Buffalo Bills. It’s clear, though, that the Eagles aren’t firing on all cylinders just yet, and one guy who the team would like to get going is veteran defensive end Za’Darius Smith.

After earning a tight victory over the Dallas Cowboys in Week 1, Philadelphia signed Smith in the hopes that he could bolster their pass rush. Through three games, though, he’s been fairly quiet, and when asked about his performance, the three-time Pro Bowler admitted that he is still working on getting himself into football shape.

Eagles DC Fangio Celebrates Za’Darius Smith’s Leadership & Performance

Philadelphia Eagles defensive coordinator Vic Fangio praises the performance of veteran edge rusher Za'Darius Smith, calling his recent game against the Bucs his best since joining the team. Smith is stepping up amidst key injuries to teammates, contributing both on the field and as a mentor for younger players. Despite injuries depleting the Eagles' edge rusher depth, Fangio remains confident in the current roster and the next-man-up mentality. Smith's experience and ability to guide younger teammates are seen as critical to improving the pass rush as the season progresses.

With the next few weeks ahead, the Eagles will need Smith and his fellow pass rushers to leverage their strengths in order to develop a more effective defensive front. The focus will be on maintaining depth through injuries while enhancing the collective play of the unit.

Eagles' Za'Darius Smith Signing May Have Been Celebrated Too Soon

When the Philadelphia Eagles signed veteran pass rusher Za’Darius Smith a day after their Week 1 win over the Dallas Cowboys, Eagles fans were shocked and also excited.

Throughout the offseason, the veteran pass rusher was never mentioned as a potential option for the Eagles. But based on what the team saw from the defensive unit, it was clear that they needed a veteran off the edge.

Smith immediately made an impact, as he recorded four combined tackles, a tackle for loss, a quarterback hit, and a half sack in the Eagles’ Week 2 win against the Chiefs. It was exactly what the Eagles needed. And as you can imagine, fans were happy with the addition.
