Europe extends Ryder Cup lead over reeling U.S.

FARMINGDALE, N.Y. — The bleeding continued for the U.S. team at the 45th Ryder Cup on Saturday, as the Americans lost three of four foursomes matches and trail the Europeans 8.5-3.5 in what is quickly becoming the "Bethpage Black Blowout."

For the third straight session, very little went right for the U.S. team, as only one of its three losses reached the 17th hole.

Barring a miraculous comeback, the U.S. team is in danger of losing the Ryder Cup for the 11th time in the past 15 matches and falling to the Europeans on American soil for the first time since 2012.

Europe romps to another session win in Ryder Cup for commanding five-point lead

FARMINGDALE, N.Y. (AP) — President Donald Trump did not attend Day 2 at the Ryder Cup. That was about the only difference Saturday as Europe sent out its same Foursomes teams, filled the scoreboard with blue points .css-vqpqpw{transition-property:var(–chakra-transition-property-common);transition-duration:var(–chakra-transition-duration-fast);transition-timing-function:var(–chakra-transition-easing-ease-out);cursor:pointer;outline:2px solid transparent;outline-offset:2px;color:#004c95;-webkit-text-decoration:underline!important;text-decoration:underline!important;-webkit-user-drag:none;}.css-vqpqpw:focus-visible,.css-vqpqpw[data-focus-visible]{box-shadow:var(–chakra-shadows-outline);}.css-vqpqpw:hover,.css-vqpqpw[data-hover]{color:#0084FF;}.css-vqpqpw:focus,.css-vqpqpw[data-focus]{border:1px solid #004c95;border-radius:0.4rem;}.css-vqpqpw:visited{color:#551A8B;}and delivered a crushing blow to the Americans.

Ryder Cup 2025: Saturday Afternoon Four-Ball Pairings

Saturday morning Foursomes are now complete, with Europe again showing their mastery of the Foursomes format and going 3-1 to bring their lead to 8.5-3.5 over the United States. There's still another session to go on Saturday, however, with four more crucial points up for grabs.

Here are the Saturday afternoon Four-Ball pairings slated to match up (with estimated tee times):

Justin Thomas & Cameron Young (USA) vs. Rory McIlroy & Shane Lowry (EUR)

Young may be making his Ryder Cup debut but the local hero has turned himself into Keegan Bradley’s go-to guy in just two sessions. He teams up again with Thomas after yesterday’s thumping 6&5 win over Ludvig Åberg and Rasmus Højgaard and brings in momentum after also winning in the morning foursomes. The victory for Thomas on Friday afternoon was his first in four-balls since 2018 and his first without Jordan Spieth. McIlroy and Lowry are another returning team after securing a dramatic half in the fading sunlight against Sam Burns and Patrick Cantlay on Friday. Their only previous appearance together in the four-balls ended in defeat and their combined record playing their own ball with a partner is 6-7-4.
