RFK Jr.’s handpicked CDC vaccine advisers weigh changes to childhood vaccine schedule
Vaccine advisers to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention voted Thursday to recommended against using the combined measles, mumps, rubella and varicella vaccine for young children.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the advisers delayed an expected vote on hepatitis B vaccines for newborns until Friday.
The advisers voted 8-3 Thursday that the combined MMRV vaccine is not recommended before age 4. Children in this age group should receive the measles, mumps and rubella, or MMR, vaccine separately from the varicella vaccine, they said.
Dr. Robert Malone abstained from the vote, and Dr. Joseph R. Hibbeln, Dr. Hilary Blackburn and Dr. Cody Meissner voted no.
