School officials also say changes in Pennsylvania law increased the Academy's liability exposure, and they were hit with steep insurance premium increases.

Valley Forge Military Academy in Wayne, Pennsylvania, will close in May 2026 after a review found the prep boarding school to be "no longer viable" due to rising costs and declining enrollment, the school announced Monday.
The board of trustees cited rising tuition prices, falling enrollment and a change in Pennsylvania law that increased liability exposure and drove up insurance premiums as the reasons behind the decision to close down VFMA, which was founded in 1928, after the 2025-26 academic year, in a statement posted online.
"Together, these factors made the Academy's future unsustainable," the statement said.
VFMA trustees said the Valley Forge Military College, which shares the 70-acre Main Line campus with the academy, will remain open. The academy and college have a different set of boards of trustees and leadership, the statement said.

Valley Forge Military Academy Is Closing
The nearly 100-year-old private college-preparatory boarding school and day school will close at the end of the 2025-26 academic year, on May 30, 2026, the school's board of trustees said Monday.
Officials said the 98th Corps of Cadets will be the last class.
While the military academy is closing, the separately governed and accredited Valley Forge Military College, which is a distinct institution, will remain open
The trustees said keeping the academy open is no longer viable due to rising costs for families, making boarding school less affordable for many families; declines in enrollment; and increased insurance premiums for the school due to changes in Pennsylvania law, as well as fewer insurers willing to provide coverage for the school.
