Tristen Keys flips from LSU to Tennessee: Vols lure No. 1 WR in 2026 class away from SEC rival Tigers
Tennessee notched a colossal recruiting victory over an SEC rival on Thursday when Tristen Keys, the No. 1 wide receiver in the 2026 class, flipped his commitment from LSU to the Volunteers. He is the highest-rated prospect thus far in the cycle to have announced a flip, and his addition to the Tennessee haul adds to what is already a stacked group of offensive newcomers headed to Josh Heupel's program.
The flip had been brewing for most of the summer. Keys visited Tennessee on June 13 and said to 247Sports' Tom Loy that he made up his mind on that trip. He still had an LSU visit scheduled for June 20, and he told the Tigers' coaches ahead of that trip that he would likely flip to Tennessee. Keys still made the trip to Baton Rouge with an open mind, though. Ultimately, it was not enough to sway him from backing off his pledge and picking the Volunteers as his preferred destination.
Tristen Keys, No. 1 wide receiver in 2026 class, flips from LSU to Tennessee football
Five-star recruit Tristen Keys has flipped his commitment from LSU to Tennessee football, giving the Vols the No. 1 wide receiver in the 2026 class.
"You're not going to come across too many schools like Tennessee − especially the people at Tennessee," Keys told GoVols247. "They're really supportive even when things are going bad."
He had been committed to LSU since March 19, when he initially chose the Tigers over virtually every powerhouse program in college football.
Now, Keys is pledged to Tennessee. The Vols already had commitments from Faizon Brandon, perhaps the No. 1 quarterback in the 2026 class, and five-star athlete Salesi Moa, who will likely play wide receiver for the Vols.

5-star Tristen Keys breaks down his flip from LSU to Tennessee
Tennessee made major recruiting news with the flip of 5-star wide receiver Tristen Keys. The now former LSU pledge spoke with Volquest before going public with his flip to detail why Tennessee was the school for him.
“I’d say the culture, the fans, the town with everybody just coming out to the game and showing mad love,” Keys stated on what made him pick Rocky Top. “The support system they have because win, lose or draw, the Tennessee fans are still going to be out there cheering Go Vols at the end of the day.
“The coaching staff, great coaches, great people and great fathers. They know what they are doing and that’s one of the biggest things for me knowing that I’ll have a father figure to prepare me for the next level.”
