Trimmed-down Doncic: My 'body looks better'

Stephen A. Smith discusses why the Lakers should be very excited to see how a slimmer Luka Doncic can perform. (1:49)

Luka Doncic said he took a "huge step" in improving his health and conditioning this summer, adding that his "whole body looks better" after spending the past two months training in Croatia.

In a report published Monday that includes multiple photos of a significantly thinner Doncic, Men's Health Magazine detailed the Los Angeles Lakers star's offseason diet and fitness regimen.

Doncic and his team told Men's Health that he has stuck to a gluten-free, low-sugar diet that includes intermittent fasting and high levels of protein — at least 250 grams per day.

NBA News: Luka Dončić Told His Manager After Lakers' Season Ended All He Wanted to Do This Offseason Was 'Train'

NBA superstar Luka Dončić told his manager, Lara Beth Seager, after the Los Angeles Lakers’ 2024-25 season ended that all he wanted to do this offseason was “train.”

The Lakers lost to the Minnesota Timberwolves in the first round of the 2025 playoffs in five games despite having Dončić and LeBron James.

The Dallas Mavericks traded Dončić to Los Angeles in February because he was out of shape.

“All Luka Dončić wanted to do after this season ended was train, and he made that clear to his manager, Lara Beth Seager, on May 1, one day after the Lakers were ousted from the first round of the NBA playoffs,” Men’s Health wrote. “The loss was the nadir of Dončić’s worst NBA season. For all the criticism of Dončić’s body, until this past season, nobody could diss his body of work: He’d never played fewer than 60 games in a season, and just a year earlier, he’d powered the Mavs to the NBA Finals. No such luck in 2024. A calf injury knocked him out for all of January. Then Dallas sent him packing. Then came the 4-1 playoff series decimation at the hands of the Timberwolves.
