Key Depth Piece Speaks on Environment of Jetsâ Crowded WR Room
Coming off a disappointing 2024-25 season, the entire New York Jets organization is attempting to move forward as one. A busy offseason has seen a quarterback change and some other departures, but also plenty of additions to create healthy competition on the roster.
The wide receiver position might be the best example of that. Garrett Wilson is established as the clubâs No. 1 wideout, but thereâs a ton of uncertainty behind him. Several position battles are wide open, which presents a contrast between more spots being available but more players fighting for a place on the depth chart.
It sounds like a high-stress predicament, right? Not so fast. Speaking to the media on July 2, newcomer Tyler Johnson opened up about the state of the wideout room in quite the positive tone.

Jetsâ new receiver has a motto for himself which the team is following
The Jets signed Tyler Johnson this offseason to add some depth at wide receiver. The veteran pass-catcher follows a motto that has helped him stick around and find success in his NFL career. Now the rest of the Jetsâ receiving corps is following that same motto.
While speaking with the media, Johnson shared his mindset as he enters a new receiver room this season.
âWeâre able to go out here and make plays and get 1 percent better every day,â Johnson said, per the teamâs website.
The Jetsâ roster is young and inexperienced. This makes the offseason practices that much more important. Veteran leadership is crucial.
