RIGBY — At approximately 3:42 p.m. Friday, Central Fire District responded to a reported field fire in the vicinity of cotton trees. The fire, initially spreading toward a nearby barn and two vehicles, was quickly met with an aggressive response. Firefighters successfully protected all structures and personal property in the area.

As the fire advanced through the trees, it began moving toward a nearby residence. Thanks to swift action from responding crews, the fire’s spread was halted before it reached the home, and the property was fully protected.

Fatal crash on Highway 95 claims one life, injures two others

COUNCIL, Idaho — Idaho State Police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred on Saturday, June 28, at 2:20 p.m. on Highway 95 at milepost 143, just north of Council.

A 2008 Ford Focus, driven by a 31-year-old woman from Huntington, Oregon, was traveling southbound on Highway 95 on Fort Hall Hill. The vehicle was attempting to pass a semi-truck and trailer in a no-passing zone when it collided with a northbound 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee, driven by a 32-year-old man from Nampa.

The driver of the Ford Focus died at the scene from her injuries. The driver of the Jeep Grand Cherokee and his passenger, a 35-year-old woman from Nampa, were taken by ground ambulance to a local hospital. Authorities confirmed that all occupants were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.
