Suspects arrested over the theft of crown jewels from Paris' Louvre museum
PARIS (AP) — Suspects have been arrested in connection with the theft of crown jewel s from Paris’ Louvre museum, the Paris prosecutor said on Sunday, a week after the heist at the world’s most visited museum that stunned the word.
The prosecutor said that investigators made the arrests on Saturday evening, adding that one of the men taken into custody was preparing to leave the country from Roissy Airport.
French media BFM TV and Le Parisien newspaper earlier reported that two suspects had been arrested and taken into custody. Paris prosecutor Laure Beccuau did not confirm the number of arrests and did not say whether jewels had been recovered.

Suspects in the brazen daylight heist of some of France's crown jewels from the Louvre were arrested near Paris, just as one of them was about to fly out of the country from Charles de Gaulle airport, the Paris prosecutor said Oct. 26.
According to Le Parisien newspaper, which first broke the story, two men in their 30s and originally from the Seine-Saint-Denis suburb of the French capital were arrested in the evening on Oct. 25.
They were known to French police, and one of the suspects was about to depart for Algeria, the newspaper said. Paris prosecutor Laure Beccuau did not say how many people were arrested or give any more detail on their profile.
