Celtic game paused after fans throw balls on pitch
Celtic's Scottish Premiership match against Dundee at Dens Park was interrupted on Sunday when balls were thrown onto the pitch by the away fans in an organised protest against the club's hierarchy.
Supporters began throwing an assortment of balls onto the playing surface as the game kicked off, prompting the referee to halt the match.
Players and staff immediately set to task picking up the balls and removing them from the pitch while the away end chanted "sack the board."
Several banners were also displayed by the Celtic fans and play was stopped for around three minutes.
Celtic are second in the Scottish Premiership table, five points behind leaders Hearts with a game in hand.
Celtic fans target merchandising and catering with 'not another penny' protest
The Celtic Fans Collective has outlined plans for a fresh protest against the board.
Celtic supporters have called for a boycott of the club’s merchandising and matchday catering as they continue to protest against the Parkhead board.
The Celtic Fans Collective, an umbrella group comprising of supporters clubs, fan media and other fan groups, have previously called for the removal of senior figures at the club, including chairman Peter Lawwell, chief executive Michael Nicholson, and finance officer Chris McKay.
The group believe the club is being mismanaged, with a particular emphasis on the transfer strategy after a difficult summer window. A previous silent protest was cut short after just one match after the club agreed to a meeting to discuss concerns, but supporters reporting back on the meeting described their unhappiness at what they saw as “a lack of humility, awareness and accountability”.
