The 47th Bank of America Chicago Marathon kicks off Sunday with a record 53,000 plus runners headed to the starting line in Grant Park, a favorable weather forecast of mostly clear skies with temperatures peaking in the mid 60s — and assurances from federal immigration enforcement authorities that operations would not impact the race.
“ICE does not conduct operations at sensitive locations, such as public events, unless there are exigent circumstances,” a statement emailed to the Sun-Times Monday from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement read.

The race course will be closed to traffic starting at 6 a.m. on Sunday and will remain closed through 4 p.m. Some road closures begin as soon as Thursday.

CHICAGO (WLS) — Thousands of runners are getting ready for Sunday's Chicago Marathon and street closures for the big race are now in effect around Grant Park.
About 53,000 runners from more than 130 countries will run through 29 neighborhoods for the Bank of America Chicago Marathon.
