JJ Gabriel transfer news: Real Madrid confident of signing Manchester United forward
Real Madrid are confident of winning the race to sign Manchester United forward JJ Gabriel after reaching a verbal agreement with the teenager.
The 16-year-old is registered at United, but has not been back to the club since walking out in September.
Gabriel, who played against Atletico Madrid on United's pre-season tour, had been expected to become the club's youngest debutant in September's Carabao Cup tie against Brighton.
However, he has opted to look elsewhere for senior football and has been training on his own in Spain.
His availability alerted clubs around Europe, including Barcelona and Paris St-Germain, but Real now expect to sign the youngster in January.

The mini-saga regarding the future of JJ Gabriel appears to be speeding toward a conclusion with Real Madrid reportedly close to sealing a deal for the teenage prodigy.
The 16-year-old forward, hyped as one of English soccer’s hottest young prospects, caused a stir after opting to cancel his registration at Manchester United back in September.
Thanks to his European heritage—his father is an English-born former Republic of Ireland international, while his mother is Greek-Cypriot—Gabriel is able to skirt Brexit regulations and join an overseas club in the upcoming transfer window.
While every big club around had been name-checked in connection for a player once dubbed “Kid Messi,” it appears as though Real Madrid have won the transfer sprint, with a deal now on the verge of completion.
