NFC Playoff Picture: Panthers fall into tie for NFC South lead with loss

The Carolina Panthers are still in first place, but just barely.

The Carolina Panthers have fallen into a tie atop the NFC South with their Thursday night loss to the Green Bay Packers. At 3-4, they still sit in first in the division after tiebreakers with the Atlanta Falcons. Atlanta plays the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday and would take the division lead with a win.

The Wild Card race isn’t too far off. The Packers are now in the final playoff spot at 5-3, so Carolina is the equivalent of two games back with the head-to-head tiebreaker.

The Falcons and Bucs play on Sunday. If Atlanta wins, they are in first place in the division. If the Buccaneers win, the Panthers will be in first place alone this week.
