The Seattle game showed us that the best way to beat the Chiefs is to have a defense that ranks in the top two in expected points added (EPA) in both run plays and pass plays. Seattle is currently ranked second in both categories with a -0.22 defensive EPA on pass plays and a -0.16 EPA against the run (these figures do count their dominant performance against Kansas City). While Kansas City’s effort was especially embarrassing, Seattle’s combination of talent at all three levels should allow the Seahawks to have a top-notch game plan against any team.
