Coroner identifies woman killed in landslide along Great Allegheny Passage
A deadly weekend landslide on the Great Allegheny Passage kept a section of the trail south of Connellsville closed Monday as unstable ground near the 88-mile marker continued to shift.
Fayette County Coroner Dr. Bob Baker identified the victim as 79-year-old Gail Luck of Wisconsin, who was killed about 1 p.m. Saturday while riding on the trail with her husband. Her husband was flown by medical helicopter to a hospital and is expected to make a full recovery, Baker said.
A Department of Conservation and Natural Resources worker stationed near the site to keep trail users away noted rocks could still be heard shifting on the hillside Monday afternoon.
