Bruins pile on Sharks behind Fraser Minten’s two goals to open road trip, and other takeaways
SAN JOSE, Calif. â Fraser Minten opened the scoring for the Bruins Tuesday night. Then he closed the door on the Sharks.
The second-year center scored a pair of goals as the Bruins kicked off their longest road trip of the year with a 6-3 victory at the SAP Center.
Recently bumped up to the second line, the 22-year-old Minten has thrived with three goals and 5 points in his last two games while still playing the responsible two-way style that endeared him to the coaching staff last season.
âHeâs definitely on his way. The way he plays and thinks the game is very impressive at his age,â said coach Marco Sturm. âWe try to push him every day, not just being a [specific] number [center] or a No. 1 center, no, just try the best he can. And itâs just right now heâs pretty fun to watch.â

Minten Scores Twice in Bruins’ 6-3 Win Over Sharks
Jeremy Swayman made 35 saves on 38 shots on the win on Tuesday at SAP Center
SAN JOSE –– When asked what he has learned about consistency in the NHL, Fraser Minten had a short answer.
The 22-year-old forward has seemingly been a quick study. Minten, who now leads the Boston Bruins with four goals, scored twice in the team’s 6-3 win over the San Jose Sharks on Tuesday at SAP Center. It came after Minten logged three points on Saturday, too.
“The way he plays and thinks the game is very impressive at his age. We try to push him every day,” head coach Marco Sturm said. “It always goes back to being at the right spot at the right time. I think that is it. Playing so smart, I think he’s going to get the opportunities. And right now, they go in. The complete game he plays right now – that’s the most important thing.”
